A processor is integrated circuit which has the logic circuit
that responds to and processing the basic instructions that drive a computer. That
can be said as a performing actions as arithmetical, logical, input/output
(I/O) and other basic instructions that they are passed from an operating
system (OS).The four primary functions of a processor are fetch, decode,
execute and write-back.

The processors most of them of today’s world’s gadgets are
multi-core which means that the integrated electronic circuit contains two or
more processors for enhanced performance, reduced power consumption and more
efficient simultaneous processing of multiple tasks which is usually called parallel
processing.

It can be illustrated with the following example

“Imagine a house is being built by a one person which
can be said as single core ”

” The same house is being built by group of person
which can be said as multi-core”

Types of multi-core processors

Dual Core Processors

Dual-core Processor simply means Central Processing Units
which has two complete execution cores per physical processor. Dual core
processors has two processors combined together and their caches and cache
controllers onto a single integrated circuit.

Quad Core Processors

Quad-core processor is a chip with four independent units
called cores which read and execute tasks of central processing unit (CPU)
instructions such as add, move data, and branch.

Within the chip, each core operates in a conjunction with
other circuits such as cache, memory management, and input/output (I/O) ports.
The individual cores in a quad-core processor will run multiple instructions at
the same time, increasing overall speed for programs compatible with parallel
processing which can be double the speed of dual-core.

Hexa Core Processors

Hexa Core Processor is one of the other multi-core processor
that is built with six cores. It can handle tasks faster than the dual core and
quad core processors which 3 times faster than dual core and 1.5 times faster
than quad-core.

Octa Core Processors

The octa core processors are made up of eight independent
cores to handle and perform task efficiently. This implies that Octa-core
processors can performs double faster than the quad core processor.

You might think that as a two sets of quad-core processors
are present in a gadget, but  it is still
octa-core as you cannot call it double qual core processor. The cores will
split various tasks between them according to their types which performs
smoothly and efficiently.

Deca Core Processors

As 2 cores are called a dual-core,  4 cores are called a quad core, 6 cores are
called hexa-core and 8 cores are called octa-core. 10 cores are called Deca-core
which is made up of 10 complete independent units to handle and perform task
very efficiently than other processors.

By this more cores means more processing speed

This can be explained with small example

If we have 1200 chocolates and each chocolate for each
person per day.

2 persons complete it in 600 days.

4 persons complete it in 300 days.

6 persons complete it in 200 days.

8 persons complete it in 150 days.

10 persons complete it in 100 days.

 Here is number of
persons  performance is like performance
of tasks by number of cores.
