come 2018!  January is almost over, only
one week left. Time goes by.  This year
is full of great things if we all can use it purposely. For me personally, I
will dedicate this year to be a year of my personal growth, setting   and meeting
my goals.  As I begin my journey here at
Highline this quarter, I would devote my time to associate myself with other
colleagues who have the the desire to succeed and a mission to build my/or our community
strong by providing a safe and healthy environment.  I have chosen to
study to pursue a degree in Global Public Health as I am still here. Below are a
few things that will increase my chance to reach my goals. 

 

 I have much passion in Global Public Health
field because I want to give back to or help my community in their need by
supporting them especially in food, health and personal growth.  The other day when I was with my Faculty
advisor, we spoke about what I wanted to study while still at Highline.  She recommended me to check a new program
offered here at Highline college which is called Community Health &
Wellness.  So, I went back home to do some research about that program and
verify the requirements that degree needed. 
It was really interesting to me and, I decided to enroll in the program
(Community Health & Wellness AAS degree). It will be a combination of
Public Health and Nutrition skills together which are quite important for
me.  I began with this program in Winter
quarter.

First,
for this academic year I have decided to manage my time—wisely. Time management
is important for everyone—it is the art of arranging, organizing,
scheduling, and planning time for the purpose of generating more effective work
and productivity. So, these are a few steps I should follow throughout this
year to keep track of my study. The first step is to identify all the
activities do in a week, and including how long each will take to
get done. Second, I need to ?have a weekly schedule of all my tasks?,
which would allow me to break things into small tasks to do.

And?, the final step is to actually follow my plan. And this, it will make
it easier to pursue my study under pressure for the entire quarter. 

 

Second,
working on schedule really helps a lot—reduce a lot of burden on me.  I think it is the best way to achieve short term
and long term goals. This year, schedule time will be crucial for me because
I am taking 3 classes. I need to organize myself by writing down all
the assignments due dates.  Additionally,
any changes that could affect my schedule. Moreover, I will set the time
to review my schedule once a week (every weekend before school day) and review
tasks for the upcoming week. By scheduling all my stuff could help me to
avoid procrastinating—I will dedicate at most my time to the things that
matter. 

  

Last
not at least, to make the most out of my learning I opt to stay at school after
my classes. Library is a quiet place to go to study and network as well.  I will spend my time in the library to do my
reading and summarizing my notes, and even preparing for each lecture ahead so
that I can get a better understanding of the materials which will be covered in
class. In addition, Computer Lab building is the second place where I pass my
journey working with other students.  

 

Clearly,
creating a structure for making the most
out of this academic year while establishing strong habits and purpose
will impact my study in a positive way and productive. From now and on, a time commitment is what I really need to reach my goals
in order to succeed in my current classes and follow my path.
