Corporate Social Responability is a term
used in general to describe a company’s positive actions towards the environment
and sustainability. PepsiCo adopted the CSR initiative in 2006 and it was one
of the first movers in this industry that embrance sustainability, according to
Indra Nooyi the business executive and the
current chairwoman and chief Executive Office of the company. All started by simple questions but with a big
importance as how the company can succeed in making profit but also trying to
mentain the planet and the community healthy. Reasons why the company should
invest in CSR are very clear.

Why should PepsiCo invest in
CSR?

First, innovation even though PepiCo is a big multinational
it still need to be innovated and with the help of CSR they can create new
products that are good for the consumers but also positive regarding the
environment

Second cost savings, as a big company Pepsico
has a huge amount of costs so by social corporate resonability they reduce the
costs in such a way that it would bring just benefits to the company

Third brand differentiations.
In the past, brand differentiation was one of the primary reasons
companies embraced CSR. However, as CSR has become more commonplace, using it
to differentiate the brand is getting harder to do. For example, the “Cola
Wars” is one of the longest running rivalries in business. Coke and Pepsi
revality. They are constantly looking to grab as much market share as they can
from each other. Yet they are both adopting similar, although slightly
different, approaches to CSR. Both Pepsi and Coke are pursuing
strategies of zero net water usage. Both companies offer water bottles made
from sustainable packaging as well. In the end it can be seen a diminishing
returns on brand differentiation as a sign that CSR is taking hold .

sustainably means optimizing quality and cost in the short term, and being
responsible in how they use natural resources, interact with  growers, and
select crops for nutrition and yield over the long term. Company’s Sustainable
