Technology has taken place in all areas of life. Educational
environment also equipped with the technology to educate individuals with the
skills to meet the needs of the day (Ozdemir, 2017). Thus it has no doubt that Information and
Communication Technology (ICT) in now a day plays a very strategic role in the
transforming phase of education. It has
a tremendous potential for enhancing outreach and improving the quality of
education. Thus, government also taking many initiatives and tried to
integrate ICT in teaching learning process like the introduction to [email protected]
Scheme. However, the problem lies in its
effective use in the classroom. Thus the present study was attempted with the
key intention to identify few issues like: Be teacher being competent enough in
the use of ICT in the classroom? What are some change teachers are making
when they used ICT tools in the classroom? How strategies are changing? What contributes
to the change? What were the change in classroom dynamics and traditional time
structures? For this purpose, a qualitative research method was adopted and participants
were determined by purposive sampling method. Twelve teachers who work in secondary
schools in Cuttack city of Odisha have participated in the research. Classroom observation,
extensive field notes and interview form was used as data collection tools. The
obtained data were analyzed by thematic analysis and four major themes were
identified with respect to the foregoing issues. These theme are “the changing
role of the teacher, the classroom dynamics, teacher predictions of ICT in
school and the concept of the classroom.” The major findings of the study
revealed that the ICT in the classroom influenced the process of learning and
in order to integrate ICT effectively, teachers are adopting different teaching
strategies again they suggested they need to drill for the power shift in the
classroom. Further, it has also been revealed that the dynamics of the
classroom were also changing due to ICT so they needed time to learn about the
technology and to understand how to integrate it into the curriculum.
