The movie Life is beautiful is about a man named Guido, who marries a gorgeous woman named Dora. Everything all seems great and joyful in the beginning but that would later change. Later in the movie they get a son together and continues to live happily until the occupation of Italy takes place by the German forces. Guido and his wife unfortunately gets divided into two different parts of the concentration-camp. Guido imagines that the concentration-camp is a game and the major price is a tank. Hi is doing this just to make his son believe that everything is okay. He didn´t want his son to recognize the reality. I would say that this movie is both a comedy and a tragedy due to the fact that in the beginning of the movie everything seems great and there was a lot of happiness and laughter however later in the movie everything changes when the occupation of Italy takes place. Moving on to the scene that I found most endearing. This scene took place when Guido should translate the rules in the concentration-camp. He is doing this even though he could not understand a single word soldiers told him. He pretends to translate everything making it sounds like a game. He is doing this to hide the horrible truth of the concentration-camp from his son. He informs every tiny detail to his son about how the game works and that you need to collect 1000 points to win the grand price. A tank. The strong connection between Guido and his son makes me really happy despite all the horrible things going on around them, they just don’t think of it because of the true love they have to each other. It really makes me think about something other than the horrible things in the movie. Furthermore, to the scene that I think is the most horrid in the movie. This scene is when Guido gets shot to death the day before everyone gets free. He works so hard to protect his son when he realizes that all other Jewish children already has been killed. Together they both search for a hideout for his son, in the middle of all the soldiers. When they finally find a hideout, he told his son that he would soon be back but he never returned and I thought that it was really heartbreaking. His highest wish was to meet and save his wife before it would be too late. When he tries to get to the women’s side he dresses up as a woman but he gets caught and gets chased down and gets killed. I think it was really awful when Guido never returned to his son. It is really hard to understand that the military is so harsh and heartless. They didn´t see the humans in the camps as humans. They did not show any mercy.  Guido was a very strange man. He was crazy and had a lot of luck by his side. He was even a litle bit childish now and then. This made him a very special man. One thing that was utterly lovely about him was his loyalty to his family. He was always willing to stand up for those he loved regardless the situation he was in. During the film the bonds between the family members become stronger and stronger which is truly endearing. Unfortunly his luck will fade away and come to an end. The closer the film comes to an end the less lucky he gets which would result in his death. I think that this is a movie that changes from the comic to the tragic. To a beginning the movie looks bright but as the movie moves along it becomes more tragic. To sum up the movie I would say that it was a tragedy. The title suits the movie because Guido always sees things from the bright and beautiful side on life regardless of which situation he was in.
