This
article has emphasized the impact of marketing advertisements towards the
health of people. Particularly, the food and beverages advertisements which
incorporate sports in order to introduce and encourage people to purchase
products. However, it seems ironic and contradicting that they associate
athletes and sports enthusiast in promoting food and beverages yet these
products are purely made of preservatives which are mainly driver of obesity
and an enemy of nutrition of people. In their study Bragg & Roberto et.al
(2018) discusses on how Food and Beverages Companies market their product
through different sports related. In addition, endorsements of athletes and
sports organizations must reflect consistency on what they truly believe to
have positive effects on health of consumers.

Although,
marketing food and beverages through sports are very useful and beneficial for
all other Food and Beverages Companies, the researchers argue that the habits
of most companies in advertising unhealthy products should be stop to prevent
the negative impact towards the health of youth. In their previous studies, the
researchers focused mainly on how food advertisements market their product
through sports and how it influence the perception and behaviors of the youth. It
also focused on the effects of marketing products that is poor in nutrients.
Furthermore, this studies explore in the use of marketing strategies that each
industries engages in: sponsorships, athlete endorsements, and video games.

To
gather data, the method that the author used was qualitative. Based on the
given evidences, they had used charts, tables to describe the characteristics
of an unhealthy products. They also used logos to inform readers about the
products they often promote and advertise. Lastly, majority of the evidences
they had were, the other related studies of the previous researchers.

Based
on the research findings, the researchers confirmed that the
use of sponsorships, video games, and athlete endorsements of Food and
Beverages Companies in promoting their products that contains only for energy
dense, can affects youth’s food preferences. The study shows that Food and
Beverages Companies failed to meet the healthiness criteria rating and they are
the one who is being known despite of using unhealthy products. Aside from
this, they use popular food as a characters in games like M characters
playing in Nintendo Wii game to get the attention of youth. Due to this
situation there are tendency that youth must preferred to play rather than to
eat that product. While, athlete endorsements gives unclear message about good
health by suggesting the product that has low in nutrient but compatible with
physical activity. This studies shows that athletes are likely persuasive
marketers by using their physical attractiveness and status that help endorsed
product to gain money. It also shows that those celebrity athletes are the one
who are endorsing there are possibility that it will become more effective.

The
title of the work already gives an idea to what it means. However, this
study    provides
more on the negative effects of food advertising, they did not include the good
side of it. They also generalized all other Food and Beverages Companies that
all the product they are promoting are mostly harmful for the health of the
youth perhaps, some companies also promote healthy food. On the other hand, to
strengthen this studies, this paper provides and discuss sources from different
studies and perspectives that made it reliable to read and in order to support
their claims. It also provides explanation and samples such as: chart, tables,
and logo of the promoting products so that the readers will understand it
better. The style of writing of the authors’ was very organized, reliable, and easy
to read and follow. Also, the coherence of the idea was observable to give
readers ease on understanding. Another strength that was shown in this paper is
that the authors’ suggested some ways to prevent the issues and to inform the
readers this situations. Also, the authors’ diction or the choice of words on
how it was conducted that made it convenient for the readers.

With
the use of more updated sources, which is good, it helps this article to come
up with a credible paper. This paper is very recommendable especially for
athletes, youth, and Food and Beverages Companies that uses this marketing
strategy, to help them to be informed about the negative effects it brings to
the health of the youth.
