Title of Speech: Abortion, A woman’s Right General Purpose: To persuade  Specific Purpose: My goal is to convince the audience to support the legalization of abortion worldwide without government influences.   INTRODUCTION I. Attention: What if you were going through a kidney failure and found your potential match, then the government oppose you from getting the transplant done for their own selfish pleasures? Now, imagine a female who becomes pregnant, and is forced to bring an unwanted child to this world simply because she’s not allowed to terminate the pregnancy in her state/country. In both cases, should the government be allowed to control our ability to make our own fundamental choices? II. Relevancy: For many years, abortion has always been a controversial issue worldwide. An individual’s perspective on this debatable issue can be classified into two distinctives groups. A person who enforces the legal protection of a human embryo and advocates the right to life of the unborn due to moral or religious views is known as a Pro-Life defender. In contrast, an individual like myself who supports the legalization of abortion and believes that a woman should have her fundamental rights to make her own decision on abortion is known as a Pro-Choice supporter. III. Credibility: At the age of 16, I became pregnant and was heavily influenced by my family to keep the baby due to their strong religious values. Here in our state, because parental consent is mandatory for minors., I was restricted from having an abortion. As a result, I suffered post-partum depression. IV. Preview: As a Pro-Choice advocate, I want you to be aware that there are many complicated reasons women seek abortion beside the intention of not expecting to become pregnant. Evidently, abortion is generally motivated by factors such as poverty, rape or incest and chronic health conditions.   Transition: Now, let’s discuss how poverty negatively affect abortion.   BODY  II. Main Point: Poverty is one of the huge factors that generates abortion growth to increase day after day.      A. Sub-Point: For parents and children of all ages, poverty has some detrimental effects.                       1. Sub-sub-point A: Poor children are two times more likely to suffer higher incidence of adverse health such as decelerating growth, lead poisoning and other birth defects (Brooks-Gun & Duncan,1997).                         2. Sub-sub-point B: Children who grow up in poverty are at higher risk to experience emotional and behavioral problems (Brooks-Gun & Duncan,1997).          Transition: In addition, let’s discuss the reasons why abortion should be acceptable in case of sexual assaults.  II.   Main Point: Crime such as rape and incest are other major factors that expands the abortion rate. A.   Sub-Point A: In a recent journal by Gerald D Coleman (2015), it says that rape can cause disturbing effects on the pregnancy and traumatize a woman with post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety.        1.     Sub-sub-point A: Unwanted children are more likely to suffer from physical, emotional and psychological abuse by their mothers and their communities (UNICEF, 2005, p.32).                  2. Sub-sub-point B:  Reasearch shows that children of rape are at higher risk to become substance abusers which can lead to suicidal thoughts.        Transition: Last but not least, abortion shouldn’t be questionable when either the mother or the baby’s life is endangered.        III.  Main Point: A large proportion of women seek abortion due to chronic health conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and severe birth defects resulting in neonatal death.              Sub-Point A: According to the Center for Disease Control & Prevention, heart attack or hemorrhage affects more than 50,000 women in the united states (CDC,2016).              Sub-Point B: Hypertension is a serious life-threatening condition during pregnancy that can put a woman at high risk for pre-eclampsia and stroke.                 Transition: Let’s review!  Conclusion Review:  Abortion is a very depressive decision itself, therefore, women should not have to deal with the worry of being condemned due to her choice. It should be a woman’s fundamental rights to determine the best option and also have access to legal abortion services in cases such as poverty, rape and chronic health conditions.  Reinstatement of Significance: If you were faced with severe health conditions and were able to make one righteous choice to avert your circumstances, it would be unjust for the government to intervene and undermine your rights.  Closing Device: For every Pro-lifer her, I want you all to think of how beneficial abortion can be in certain circumstances. I’m not asking you to strictly favor Pro-Choice supporters; I’m
